Call for Papers Invitation
Concept Mapping Research and Applications Conference
Concept Systems Inc., sponsor and host of the Concept Mapping Research and Applications Conference in Chicago this July 15-17, invites you to submit a proposal to present your work at the Conference. The Conference Agenda features two tracks:
Creativity in Concept Mapping: Users have stretched and shaped the typical Concept Mapping process and tools in many different ways to serve their project's needs. We seek innovative approaches, adaptations, enhancements or examples of combining concept mapping tools and techniques with other tools to yield more useful results for your research. Your experience will benefit Conference attendees in adapting and extending the approach.
Context in Concept Mapping: Context is a fundamental philosophical, practical and political element of virtually every Concept Mapping project. We seek unique or broadly applicable examples of adaptation and innovation in response to context; how context was defined and recognized as critical to the success of the initiative. Consider stages of a research or engagement initiative, including identifying the issue, creative means to ensure engagement, the issues raised by communication in context, cultures and hierarchy in research and planning.
With these parallel paths, the Conference will include a range of concept mapping practitioners and provide conference attendees the opportunity to experience a great variety of interesting applications. Your research or project may indeed be relevant to both paths; CSI will place the paper to be most valuable to the conference attendees. Papers will be aggregated into a proceedings publication documenting the event and included as a feature on the CSI website.
To Submit a Proposal:
- Register for the conference by going to: http://www.conceptsystems.com/content/view/conferences.html to download, complete, and submit the Registration Form.
- Download and complete Paper Submission Form linked here. Submit the Paper Submission Form by email to csiinfo@conceptsystems.com or by fax at 607-272-1215.
- CSI and the conference advisory group will be reviewing the Paper Submission Forms. If your paper is accepted, we will share with you information regarding moderators and the papers they will be presenting.
- The Paper Submission Form must include a 50 word targeted description, as well as an abstract submission of no more than 400 words to describe: the initiative's purpose, the organization or setting of the project; design elements; project results; descriptions of creativity or context (or both); the means of assessing the utility or effectiveness of the adaptation to the method in meeting the project objectives; relevance to the field and methodological basis of concept mapping; the benefit to conference attendees.
Your description will be used to select papers for inclusion. If it is selected, we may request your edits for inclusion in the Conference booklet to describe your presentation. If we are unable to accommodate your paper in the panel presentations, we hope that you'll permit us to list it as a poster session. CSI's program team will contact you to confirm. We look forward to featuring your work at the Conference!
